Ingredients
- 14 oz. package of kraft caramels
- 1/2 tsp. burnt sugar
- 1/3 cup evaporated milk
- 1/2 tsp. butter flavoring
- 1 regular size german chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup nuts
- 3/4 cup melted oleo
- 6 oz. chocolate chips
- 1/3 cup evaporated milk
Directions
- In double broiler combine caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk
- Cook till melted and set aside
- Grease a 9x13 pan
- In a bowl, combine cake mix, oleo, nuts, and other 1/3 cup of evaporated milk
- Stir till well mixed
- Using half of the dough, spread a layer on the bottom of the pan
- Bake at 350F for 6 minutes
- Remove pan and sprinkle chocolate chips over the baked crust
- Spread caramel mixture over choc. chips
- Carefully spread the remaining dough on top
- Put back in oven and bake for 20 minutes at 350F
- Cool slightly and then cut into bars
