Cinnamon Raisin Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of self-rising flour
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 2 cups milk or buttermilk
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 cup raisins

Directions

  1. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and sugar
  2. Blend in shortening until mixture is fine
  3. Add milk and stir until mixed
  4. Add in raisins and mix
  5. Add cinnamon and mix until swirled through batter
  6. Scrape batter onto well floured surface
  7. Flour top and pat down until 1/2 inch thick
  8. Cut into 2" biscuits and place on greased baking pan
  9. Bake at 400F for 10-15 minutes until golden brown
