Gingersnaps

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup soft shortening
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cloves

Directions

  1. Combine sugar, shortening, and egg
  2. Add molasses and dry ingredients
  3. Chill the dough for a few hours or overnight
  4. Shape dough into 1" balls and roll into granulated sugar
  5. Place 2" apart on greased baking sheet
  6. Bake at 350F for 12 to 15 minutes
