Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening or butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 packets of yeast (4 and 1/2 tsp.)
- 1/2 cup water(105-115F)
- 1/2 cup luke warm milk
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 and 1/2 to 5 cups flour
Directions
- Place yeast in warm water and let sit (ensure activation before adding to other ingredients)
- Beat shortening/butter and sugar to mixture
- Add eggs, milk, and salt to mixture
- Add yeast/water to mixture
- Slowly add flour till dough starts to pull away from bowl
- Remove dough from bowl and knead on floured board
- Place in greased bowl and let rise till size doubles
- After doubling, remove dough and flatten on greased pastry sheet to a rectangular shape
- Spread soft butter on surface of dough
- Apply cinnamon and sugar mixture onto buttered surface to your liking
- Starting from long edge, roll to other edge until log shape is made
- Pinch dough to adjacent dough
- Mark off 12 rolls with a thin string
- Place string under dough at each mark and slice in circular manner
- Place rolls in a greased 9x13 cake pan
- Let rise in warm oven
- After rolls double in size, bake at 350F in oven for 25-30 minutes till lightly tanned
- Allow rolls to cool
- Apply icing
