Ingredients
- 2 packages of yeast
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 cup warm water (110-115F)
- 1 3/4 cup warm milk/water/potato water (110-115F) mixed with shortening
- 2 tbsp. shortening/butter/margerine
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- 2-3 tsp. salt
- 7 to 7 1/4 cup flour
Directions
- Mix together yeast, 1/2 tsp. sugar, and 1/2 cup water and let sit for 10 minutes
- Warm the milk and mix with butter
- Add 4 1/2 cup flour with other dry ingredients
- Continue to add flour till dough pulls away from bowl
- Knead dough
- Place dough in greased bowl, let rise until double
- Form dough into loafs or rolls
- Place on greased baking pan or sheet
- Cover and place in warm area and let rise for 30 minutes
- Bake at 350F for 30-35 minutes for loafs
- For rolls, bake until done
