White Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 packages of yeast
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm water (110-115F)
  • 1 3/4 cup warm milk/water/potato water (110-115F) mixed with shortening
  • 2 tbsp. shortening/butter/margerine
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 2-3 tsp. salt
  • 7 to 7 1/4 cup flour

Directions

  1. Mix together yeast, 1/2 tsp. sugar, and 1/2 cup water and let sit for 10 minutes
  2. Warm the milk and mix with butter
  3. Add 4 1/2 cup flour with other dry ingredients
  4. Continue to add flour till dough pulls away from bowl
  5. Knead dough
  6. Place dough in greased bowl, let rise until double
  7. Form dough into loafs or rolls
  8. Place on greased baking pan or sheet
  9. Cover and place in warm area and let rise for 30 minutes
  10. Bake at 350F for 30-35 minutes for loafs
  11. For rolls, bake until done
